Default Vina del Mar - ATP Movistar Open-Long Awaited Time For Tennis Lovers

All time favorite and top seed Fernando Gonzalez won his third Movistar Open title on Saturday night as he defeated unseeded Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas in semi final with 6-7(4), 7-6(6), 6-2 in the duration of two hours and 47 minutes.
He really amused his fans in the second set as he managed to save two match points in that set. Afterwards, 27 years- old Chilean was awarded champion title after no.3 seed Juan Monaco, suffered in left ankle sprain during second set of doubles final earlier on Saturday. This bad injury made Monaco unfit for lying in Sunday final. While earlier Monaco had reached to the signals championship with straight-set wins against Santiago Ventura. Now the tournaments will hold between Ventura and Gonzalez as an exhibition on Sunday night instead of single final. As Gonzalez remarks “I am quite satisfied to win this tournament but a bit sad for Monaco who was no fit to play final match.”
It is the first time that a final single match has held on ATP after 2003 when David Nalbandian had to withdraw because of wrist injury over countrymen Guillermo Coria. Hence, it was great misfortune for Monaco at the most crucial time of career as he expressed his unpleasant feelings in following remarks. “It was really bad luck for me as I got injury when I was on the peak of my career.”
In Saturday match, Gonzalez won game over Cuevas within 18-minute power outage with the lead of 5-6 in the second set and managed to save two match points in twelve game at 15-40 before coming back final set to win tie-break. But Gonzalez also followed 3-5 in the tie-break.in the third set, Gonzalez overcame in the second game and got a break point in the seventh game with lead of 5-2 while Cuevas broke it in last game. Gonzalez was the super player who won Vina del Mar title in two times in 2002 and 2004 and was declared runner up in 2005.
In Vina del Mar championship, a tennis live match where Monaco advanced to first ATP final held on Saturday. He defeated Spaniard Santiago in a hour by 6-2, 6-4 lead in Movistar Open in Vina del Mar.
