In San Fransisco it is reported that the Giants organization will be ridding themselves of all likenesses, plaques, and memorabilia related to Barry Bonds. I think this is a little extreme. While they may not like him, he is a part of their history. What do you guys think about this move?

They have in fact done this and I personally think its a great idea. Yes Bonds was a great player but I also feel he took steriods and cheated his way to the home run record. The latest figures show that baseball attendances are on the decline and ESPN is reporting that they need to try to bring back young fans especially African Americans. If they are going to do this the only way they can is to preach that drugs and perjury are wrong and unfortuneatly Barry Bonds will suffer by having his statues and likenesses removed from AT&T park.

I guess...I just can't belive that they are completely ridding themselves of him. Especially after they held on to him for so long during the steroid questionings. It makes it seem as if they approved of what he was doing for as long as they could get away with it. You help us, but when we need to help you: you're out of here. (Completely by the way). ;

Well that's exactly what they did to him. It is sad in a way considering what he has done in his career regardless if he is guilty or not. However if you watched any of the congressional hearings that Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee testified at, you will remember that Mr. McNamee stated that owners and organizations knew that this was going on with steriods and that basically they turned their back because if it was known, their profits would fall. Drugs unfortunately are rampant in all sports except amateur sports like the Olympics. All sports, especially baseball, need much more stringent drug testing and policies. Until then you will always have cheaters.

I think the Giants are just being proactive here. Once the trial takes place, there's no question that Bonds is guilty of perjury. Why have a reminder of a dirty part of history?

I agree that it is a good idea for the Giants to rid the stadium of Bonds memorabilia. Yes he is a part of their history, but the Giants don't want to be remembered as the team Bonds played for because he cheated his way to his records...and no team wants that legacy.
