Josh Beckett, an ace for the Boston Red Sox, missed the team's outing to Japan recently. However, he came back strong and threw 4 shut out inninigs in a minor league game. Last year he was 20-7, now suffering from back spasms...do you think he will be as effective?

I feel that Beckett will be all right. He has had some issues before, but I don't believe its too serious. For the Bosox though, they need to watch him closely. If something serious occurs, it could cause issues, because he is their ace.

I enjoyed watching Beckett get roughed up by the Blue Jays yesterday in the series finale. Roy Halladay looked great and the Jays swept the Bosox aside 3 straight. You can't compare a Minor League start to one in the majors, just not the same. He better be on his game because the Sox have some young arms in Buchholz and Lester, with Schilling and Beckett hurting, guys like Wakefield and Daiske will be asked to pick up the slack.

Same can be said for the Yankees. They have young arms in Hughes and Kennedy. If Mussina, Wang and Pettitte ever struggle, don't be surprised if the Yankees are not in contention.
