Default Should they be allowed

Do you think that the use of steroids and performance enhancers should be allowed within the realm of sports? If so why, do you think they should? If not, why?

I think it should just because players will use them anyways. If they are allowed it will eliminate big investigations and pretty much the situation baseball is in right now. If a player thinks he needs this and wants to take a health risk regarding steroids then its up to him.

You have very good points that you brought up. I also agree with you on this one. But the problem seems to be that they were not suppose to be taking them and were. So what do you think the punishment if any should be at this time. Some of the players are retired now.

Ofcourse punishment for players currently playing would be the suspension of a couple of games, possibly even without pay. However when it comes to those players that are retired that is much harder. If they have the possibility of going to the hall of fame I would say it is unfair to take that away from them, for using steroids a couple of times in their career. Its hard to say for sure.

I guess the rules need to be make more clear and the penalty for breaking those rules needs to be put in writing that would be the only way to really back themselves up.

I don't think that steriods should be used. They are using them to enhance their performance which enhances their payroll. I think it's unfair that they get paid for their use. Sports should be about being the best in what you are doing. Not doing steriods, it should be natural.

Sporting has always been about natural ability. One of the greatest things that playing in sports as a little kid is the lessons one learns. i.e. how to be a team player, how to work hard, how to do your best with what you are given. The lessons learned should not be i.e. how to get by without doing much work, how you are not as good as the other guy who has more money and can afford steroids, how to abuse your body.

i think performance enhancing drugs and steriods should be allowed not only in baseball but all sports, especially the Olympics. Lets see who the strongest athletes are. Lets see who the best athlete is. They are taking them anyways and they are always coming out with new drugs that are initially un-dectable. They are lways one step ahead. They are taking them anyways, so lets allow them to do whatever they want. The health risks have been proven and if they still want to due them, fine. Lets have a drug Olympics.

I can still remember watching the 100 metre dash when Ben Johnson won the Gold medal. It was so exciting. Then a few days later, it was proven that he tested positive for a banned substance. It had all of Canada in a buzz. Why not let them all do it and winner take all. Will push athletes to even higher levels.
