Taufel could walk away from cricket

Simon Taufel, the Australian umpire ranked the best in the world over the past four years, has revealed he could walk away from the game when his contract expires on March 31.

I think it would be sad if he walks away as he is regarded as the best umpire and there are very few of them as of now. What you guys think about this?

It would be a real shame if he did walk away as he is probably the best umpire out there at the moment.

Saying that, I understand where he's coming from, it is a lot or travelling and it wouldn't hurt for him to take 5/10 years out to watch his family grow up.

Yes, I read about this report.It could be a great loss to cricket because he is the best umpire for so many successive years.From what I read he wants to quit umpiring to move into an alternative career for monetary reasons. The only umpire of that caliber to match Taufel is probably Aleem Dar and it's high time that ICC starts adding more experienced and respected umpires to the panel of international umpires.

I too think he is the one of the best umpires cricket world or call it ICC has today. And also now there will be one less umpire in world cup. So I think to have a an of his caliber is really very difficult.

I think that he could better bid bye to the game. He is rated as one of the best umpires and let him have the name and let no body spoils that. He has been delivering good at the crucial times. He is the most reliable umpire i have ever seen.
