Certainly it has to be Rooney of course!! He has the pace, accuracy and the acceleration that a football player in England needs!! After English Football is all about pace and acceleration!! No wonder Shevchenko is struggling!!

I think england should not rely only from Rooney or Owen. They need to find better striker for International Level. Player like theo walcot, darrent bent should be come forward to become good striker for future england.

Majority will say rooney is the best english striker right now.I agree with this answer. He is one of the most talented striker found in EPL and no wonder Man U immediately grab himfrom everton only after 1st season he starting play in EPL.

Yeah wayne rooney is on top of his career but unfortunately England still can't make to the semis in WC. Maybe they just rely on one striker only.

Rooney is the best striker no question about it. I'd say that Owen follows him. Rooney is not only the best striker but he has the ability to play anywhere. Very versatile player.

I will vote for Rooney and i think Theo Walcott can be better striker if Arsene Wenger giving him more chance to play in most of Arsenal matches. Come on Wenger..he can do better than just sitting on the bench.

I would say Rooney is probably the best English striker, but there are other players that are pretty good too. Peter Crouch is great in the air, but he also is great on the ground too. He could become the English equivalent of Miroslav Klose if he just got to play week in and week out.
Michael Owen is similar to Rooney, only that I think he's a tad smarter because of his experience. Too bad he gets injured all the time though. Theo Walcott is ok, but I just don't think he's the star everyone has made him out to be. He's fast but it doesn't seem like he has the work-rate needed to be a first class player. |

I would say Rooney is probably the best English striker and there is no question on his telent. England have to produce some good striker with Rooney to make team more stronger. Peter Crouch is only best when ball is in Air.

See, I wouldn't say that Rooney is an out and out striker, he has a bit more to his game than that and prefers to come from the deep.
Owen is the obvious choice but injuries have ruined his talent over the years. Walcott needs to develop a lot in the next 2-3 years. I would say someone like Andy Johnson or Dean Ashton could be decent strikers but without them playing for a team with great service it's hard to say. |

I reckon Jermain Defoe will to start to heavily feature in the national side soon. Spurs held him back and now that he's at Pompey, he's already scoring goals. I think he's hideously underrated and would love to see him playing up just in front of Rooney.
