If all contests are fair , as I hope they will be , then it should be the United states yet again that tops the medals tally. However, I expect China to be very close this year , not just because the Olympics is in Beijing , but because they did very well even during the last Olympics.

I think China will win most medals in this Olympics because she have homeground advantage as host country and she will try very hard to erase the hurt to her national pride due to boycott calls

China stands strong chance of winning the maximum number of medals this time. They usually fare well in most of the Olympic events. This time they have advantage of homeground.

Because China is the home team, they will do well for sure. However its generally Russia and the US that brings in the most medals. Germany is always near the top as well.

Another country that will surely do well in the Olympics is Australia. They have a great sporting culture , perhaps the best that any nation can boast of and it shows in their performances. I expect them to be among the top 7 nations in the Beijing Olympics.

I expect Russia and China to try their best but in the end I assume it will be USA again. Does anyone know when the USA didn't win the most during Olympic Games? That would be interesting to know.
