Isiah Thomas to Coach Again
Isiah Thomas is back in the spotlight. After damaging the New York Knicks during his coaching tenure, he has moved on to coaching in college. He agreed to a five-year contract with Florida International University in Miami.
Isiah Thomas was a phenomenal NBA player. Standing less than 6 feet tall, he led the Detroit Pistons to two championships during the Bad Boys era. A series of problems in New York has damaged his image. Racial discrimination, sexual and physical harassment cases have been filed against him.
FIU athletic director Pete Garcia said. “Isiah is going to give our fans and alumni a lot of reasons to be excited.” At least one person still believes in Isiah Thomas’ capabilities as a coach. Thomas is going to try and build back his image as a credible basketball figure. He is included in the NBA’s 50 greatest players.
As a coach in the NBA, he complied a record of 187 – 223. He led the Pacers to the playoffs three times with little success. Miami center Jermaine O’Neal stated that his former coach deserved a chance to repair his image.
