Bulgarian Officials to Meet Bernie Ecclestone for Bringing F1
Reports suggest Bulgarian officials would be meeting Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula 1 boss with a proposal to bring F1 to the region. The meeting, which is scheduled for next week, would be discussing the contents of a future deal for a Bulgarian race.
It has been reported that Bulgaria would be expecting to stage its first F1 race in the year 2011. According to the reports, the contract would be running through to the year 2015 with an option of an extension, even, till 2020.
Reports quoted Bulgarian Motorcycling Federation announcing last December, that they would be placing a bid to the FIA in the hope of a grand prix. Reports further quoted that a certain part of the plan would see one new circuit, to be built, near Pleven in northern Bulgaria. According to reports, the track will be used for one round of the World Rally Championship in 2010.
In the month of March, Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of MotoGP, as well, reportedly affirmed that the series would be arriving in Bulgaria from 2012. The development took place after a preliminary 5 years agreement with BMF, pointed out by the reports.
