Gortat torn between Magic and Mavs

Apparently, Orlando Magic back-up center Marcin Gortat is ‘disappointed’ that the Magic matched the Dallas Mavericks offer to him. The Magic matched the $34 million offer to Gortat.

Marcin Gortat was looking to start for an NBA team and the Mavericks would give him that opportunity. He was telling everyone in his home country Poland that he was going to start for the Dallas Mavericks next season.

Playing for the Magic however, Gortat would be stuck playing behind Magic superstar center Dwight Howard.

NBA.com reported: “It was definitely about the opportunity to find out how good he can really be,” Gortat’s agent Guy Zucker said. “We had requested that Orlando not match the offer. We stated the fact that he sincerely wanted the chance to carve his own path, be his own man, so to speak, which is not going to be realistically possible in Orlando.”

Gortat only played 12 minutes last season for the Magic.
